A Letter from Pastor Doug

Church Family,

Ever since God planted this church 147 years ago, First Baptist Church in Grapevine has been passionate about worshipping our Mighty God, teaching the Bible, and reaching a lost world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Numerous lives have been transformed over these many years, because of men and women and students just like you, who were willing to make sacrifices for the glory of God.

In 1905, God used the generosity of J.L. Morehead to donate our current property on East Texas street. Since then, this site has been the place to gather for worship and anticipate God’s blessing for many generations. We are here because of the generous and sacrificial gifts of so many before us.

Today our mission remains the same. We are a community of believers who passionately impact our generation for Christ by Encountering God (Worship), Equipping Believers (Discipleship), and Engaging our World (Missions & Evangelism).

Now it’s our turn to leave a legacy of generosity and sacrifice.

Our Vision 2020 capital campaign addresses three needs and opportunities:

  1. As you know, our buildings are in need of great repair. We need immediate renovation of our current space for our Older Adults and other Discipleship Ministries. 
  2. Work has begun on a Student and Children’s Building as an investment in our children and grandchildren. This space will allow us to equip this next generation with tools to become life-long followers of Jesus Christ. 
  3. God has opened doors of opportunity for us to expand our influence by planting churches across DFW and around the world. The foundation is in place for planting churches in Ecuador, Canada, and in the DFW area.

Our church approved Vision 2020 Budget is $11.5 million. By faith, we stepped out believing that God would do immeasurably more.  Indeed, He has! Today, we have ZERO debt and have in hand $8.1 million out of the $11.5 million needed to fund this project. Praise God for His abundance. He is a God of Immeasurably More!

Now God wants to use His faithful followers to fill the gap so that we may finish strong what He has already begun.

This Sunday our entire church family will have the opportunity to pledge toward this opportunity.  We are asking for a financial pledge that will be given over a THREE YEAR period above-and-beyond our tithes. 

In preparation for Sunday, I ask you to join me and my family in this:

  1. Trust that God is able to do immeasurably more.
  2. Declare that God owns everything and everything is at His disposal.
  3. Ask God to lead you and your family to give generously and sacrificially to this opportunity. 

Sunday will be a great day of celebration as we willingly give back to God what is already His.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21, NIV)
